session information

So how exactly does this work?

Family portrait sessions with me are mostly candid, often conversational, with some posing guidance along the way.
You don't ever need to know 'what to do' at any point in your session, I'll guide you throughout our time together.
At the start of our shoot I'll encourage interaction using ice breaker exercises. Once we get into the flow of things, our session should feel less like a photoshoot, and more like hanging out with a friend who happens to have a camera.
I'll scout out the best light and we'll take some pictures of you in your favourite spaces at home before heading outdoors for some fresh air and a change of scenery. Along the way, you might want to stop to switch clothes, grab a snack or change a nappy! It's all good; there is always breathing room factored into our time together.
At no point should you feel like you're straining to pose or having to 'say cheese'. The most important thing is that you're relaxed enough so that I can capture your precious relationships as they are at this moment.

Before your shoot

Photography is an investment - you are investing in beautiful portraits of your family, as well as in the skills, time, equipment and creativity of your photographer to produce your custom images.

Session fees are £125, or £200 if you book 2 x shoots at the same time - one for now and one for a future date.

Your session fee does not include any digital images or printed products. These can be purchased after your photoshoot. Your session fee covers all preparation, shooting and editing of your portraits. Printed products are available from £35, please get in touch for a full price list.
I mainly shoot in and around Kent, London and Surrey. If you would like your session outside of these areas, a small travel fee will apply. I love going on a little adventure visiting other parts of the UK.
Ideally your maternity session should be between 32 and 36 weeks - when your bump is getting beautifully round, but before you start feeling uncomfortable moving around.
Your newborn session can take place as young as 7 days old, all the way through to 3 months.

Anytime during the 4th trimester works well for my style of shooting - your session will be all about cuddling your new baby and spending relaxed time together as a family, so there's no pressure to book within the first couple of weeks if you prefer to settle into life as a new family.
Simply get in touch via the contact form or email hello@jodiredhouse.com directly and we can arrange a date for your shoot. Your session fee is payable upfront to reserve your slot.

During your shoot

The short answer - wear something that you love, and feel comfortable in. Please don't match everyone's clothing exactly, but it would look fab if your family stick to a colour palette of around 3 colours.

For more detailed info, check out the blog post that I have written here: //www.jodiredhouse.com/wear-family-photos/

If you get stuck at all, feel free to email or What's App me - I'm always happy for you to run clothing ideas through with me.
Photoshoots are up to two hours long. This gives us a good amount of time for everyone to feel comfortable in front of the camera & to have a relaxed chat while capturing your portraits.

There is ample time for clothing or nappy changes, and even a snack for the little ones if needed
Absolutely not - I'll guide you through every step of our session together. Posing and direction is 100% my job - I prefer to give you a starting point and make little changes along the way, so most of the time you won't even realise that you are being 'posed'.

Your only job is to enjoy the process and be your sweet selves ????
We will simply take a breather, get that snack (stat!) or do whatever you need to do in the moment.

Trust me, I've seen it all over the years (mostly recently up close with my own spirited toddler) - even the most epic tantrum doesn't phase me

Don't let the fear that they won't be on their best behaviour stop you from getting portraits that you'll love. We will absolutely get great images, as well as the honest, real life ones.

After your shoot

After your session I'll review, edit and perfect your images. Around 3 - 4 weeks after your shoot you'll receive a link to your online gallery. This is where you'll select your favourite portraits, and have the option to buy printed or digital products.
You can expect to see 50+ edited images from your session.
Yes! I have selected a small handful of my favourite products for you, however if you have something different in mind, let's have a chat - I'll try my best to source and price up your perfect print solution.
100% yes, that would be wonderful ????

Feel free to share your favourites on social media - I provide a web sized copy of digital images for this very purpose.
