Pastel nursery bunting and a DIY flower crown
Tracy and I have known each other since Primary school days. In fact, I can clearly remember many an afternoon spent together swimming in their family pool in South Africa. When the water got too cold, we would jump out of the pool and lay on the warm brick patio, soaking up with heat from the sun warmed bricks. And when we got too hot, we would jump back into the pool and start the whole cycle again. I can feel the sensations so distinctly, as if it wasn’t more than 20 years (!) ago. This makes me want to rummage through old boxes to see whether I have any photos to help me remember the details of these afternoons.
But I digress… Back to 2015. I spent a lovely couple of hours with Tracy, meeting her daughter Imogen, catching up on the too long gap between seeing her last a few years ago. They had just returned from visiting family in South Africa, where Imogen got to hang out with her cousins, including trips to the beach. Bliss!
Here are a few of my favourite images from this recent spring morning with two of the loveliest, and in Imogen’s case, giggliest ladies who I have encountered.
Isn’t Imogen’s pastel nursery with bunting just gorgeous?
A big thank you goes out to Marian Guevara for Tracy’s beautiful make up.
Ps. Check out my craftiness, I whipped up this little DIY flower crown with a clever combo (if I do say so myself) of artificial and real flowers.
The artificial flowers were from the dress up store So High Soho and the real flowers were from the market florist Leanne in Berwick Street. If you would like to see how to make a DIY flower crown too, I have put a little tutorial together for you here.
Since the weather was so darn lovely, we couldn’t resist doing a few shots outdoors towards the end of our session together.
If you would like to arrange a relaxed mother and daughter photo session like this one, please do get in touch with me via email on hello@jodiredhouse.com. I would love to hear what you have in mind for your photos!
