A New Chapter
So here we are, a new chapter about to begin. There are less than 2 weeks to go – our household and my brain are in this strange limbo of busy-ness and waiting.
I’m feeling excited, nervous, impatient and everything in-between right now. My seemingly unending To Do list is finally getting shorter, and I’m juuust about finished up with all my pending jobs. It’s been several months of running around, sorting our new house, shopping for baby essentials and all the admin that comes along with this point in time. Oh, and of course work amongst it all.
My hospital bag is officially packed.
And now we wait to meet our daughter.
It’s taken me quite some time to get my head around that soon I’ll be someone’s Mum.
How do babies work? (just kidding… kind of! Everyone wings it, right?)
At first we were planning to book in just a newbornshoot after Baby arrives, but then I realised that I really wanted to mark this time too, just before Mike and I began this new adventure. We won’t have this exact point in time again, when it’s just us. I booked in my friend Charlotte Bryer-Ash for a maternity photoshoot, who also shot our portrait session just after our legal wedding ceremony in April last year. I loved every minute of our photoshoot, even though I was reminded how not mobile I had become over the past few months. I am honestly amazed at how my body has changed over the past 8 months. My body has been growing a tiny human, knowing exactly the right mix of ingredients and action to take over the course of pregnancy.
I feel truly grateful to be right here, at this point of sweet anticipation, right on the edge of a totally different life. I really don’t know what to expect over the next few weeks and months. What I do know is that life won’t be the same from this point onwards.
